The Barrel District has benefited from excellent representation for 35 years. Lisa Baker is the candidate who will continue the honest, responsive, friendly, intelligent, and caring public service that Barrel District residents have enjoyed from Tom Eggleston, Yvonne Knaack, and Bart Turner.

At the candidate forum tonight, I listened to Lisa answer questions about very serious issues. Lisa was deliberate, thoughtful, non-partisan, and easy to understand. She provided clear explanations of her positions on important issues, while some other candidates relied on worn-out platitudes.

Lisa’s volunteer work on behalf of all of us in Glendale simply cannot be ignored. Everyone is busy these days. Yet, for nearly 10 years, Lisa has dedicated her time to serving on city commissions and committees, learning about our housing, senior support, youth programs, park revitalization, financial stability, and historic preservation needs, and advancing recommendations to the City Council.

In addition, the Glendale Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors asked Lisa to step in as President when that position unexpectedly became vacant. Lisa has been selected for these roles because she is respected as an ethical and collaborative leader who will do what is right for the greatest number of residents without favoritism. Lisa understands the importance of balancing responsible growth with neighborhood preservation, public safety, and maintaining the character that makes the Barrel District unique.

Lisa has accomplished all of this while also being a full-time wife, mother, and successful Realtor.

Many of you were residents of the Barrel District during the 20 years you gave me the privilege and honor of serving as Mayor of Glendale. I still live in Glendale, and I remain informed and active in our community. I care deeply about our city’s future and sincerely believe that our historic character will be preserved and our quality of life will remain a priority with Lisa Baker serving as the Barrel District Councilmember.
