Lisa Baker Highlights Collaborative Leadership and Transparency at Glendale Candidate Forum
Barrel District candidate Lisa Baker demonstrated her experience, community commitment, and collaborative leadership during the Glendale Women's Club Candidate Forum on June 16, 2026.
The forum brought together candidates seeking to represent Glendale residents and covered topics including transparency in government, economic development, city governance, public accountability, and community priorities.
Throughout the evening, Lisa Baker emphasized the importance of informed decision-making, public engagement, and bringing people together to solve problems.
Drawing from her nine years of service on Glendale committees and citizen bond election committees, Lisa Baker shared a real-world example involving the Glendale Women's Club building. While serving on the Community Development Advisory Committee, Lisa Baker advocated for funding to help preserve and renovate the historic facility. Through additional research, questions, and collaboration with fellow committee members, Lisa Baker helped secure a funding recommendation that supported the project and contributed to preserving an important piece of Glendale history.
“That's a real-world example of collaborative effort that gets things done for the good of the community,” Lisa Baker told attendees.
When discussing transparency in city government, Lisa Baker said residents want more opportunities to understand issues before decisions are made and more access to information about city business. Lisa Baker advocated for increased community engagement through town halls, neighborhood meetings, and proactive communication to help residents better understand issues affecting their community.
“Government can be intimidating to people,” Lisa Baker said. “The more we can get information out to people and have them feel welcome in the process, the better it will be for everybody.”
Lisa Baker also emphasized the importance of thoughtful leadership and due process when responding to questions regarding recent city governance issues, stating that elected officials should ensure residents remain represented while allowing legal processes to provide clarity when appropriate.
In addition to her service on city committees, Lisa Baker has been actively involved with the Glendale Chamber of Commerce, serving as Board Chair in 2024 and Interim President and CEO in 2025. Through these leadership roles, Lisa Baker has worked with nonprofits, city departments, small businesses, and major employers to strengthen the community and support economic opportunity throughout Glendale.
“Glendale is my home,” Lisa Baker said. “I care deeply about our neighborhoods, our businesses, and ensuring our city remains a great place for families and future generations.”
A resident of the Barrel District since 2013, Lisa Baker lives in Glendale with her husband and daughter. Lisa Baker is seeking election to the Glendale City Council to continue serving the community and representing the interests of Barrel District residents.
